This is the moment when a balaclava-clad quad bike yob drove through a park in Edinburgh. The brazen driver shocked locals as the bike spun around the grass while residents enjoyed a Christmas Day stroll in the Meadows.

In a video shared to Edinburgh Live, the driver – who was dressed all in black – can be seen attempting to do wheelie tricks. One local dog walker said: “There are police here as well, so they cut across to the other side through the golf course. It happened on Wednesday morning at around 11.50am.”

The shocking video shows the rider performing a wheelie, while standing on the back. The revs of the bike echo through the quiet beauty spot with only a few people walking past.

As the bike continues to move through the grass, turf is seen being ripped from the ground with deep tracks being left behind. Quad bikes can only be used on private land, with the owners permission.

Officers from Police Scotland cracked down on the use of e-bikes in the meadows after receiving reports from concerned locals earlier this year.

Unregistered e-motorcycles, e-scooters and non-compliant e-bikes can only be used on private land with the owner’s permission. They are subject to the same legal requirements as many other motor vehicles, meaning that they must be insured and drivers must have a valid driving licence.
