A pilot who died in a horror plane crash in Fife has been named by police as Nicholas Denison-Pender.

Emergency services raced to the incident involving the light aircraft near Fife Airport, Kinglassie, at 11.40am on Monday, December 23. Crews, including police, firefighters, paramedics and HM Coastguard attended but sadly the pilot was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have named him as 50-year-old Nicholas Denison-Pender, from Perthshire. Inquiries into the full circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.

The Air Accident Investigations Branch confirmed a probe into the fatal crash is underway.

Detective Inspector Samantha Davidson said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Nicholas as they come to terms with their loss. The family have asked for their privacy at this difficult time.

“An investigation into the circumstances of the crash remains ongoing and we would ask for anyone with information, to please come forward.”

A spokesperson for the AAIB said: “The AAIB has been notified of this accident and is deploying a team of inspectors to commence an investigation.”
