Fans of Harlan Coben can look forward to the hotly anticipated new TV series Missing You, arriving on Netflix in the upcoming weeks.

It comes after the roaring success of his previous screen adaptation, Fool Me Once, featuring Michelle Keegan. This latest drama is adapted from Harlan’s bestseller released in March 2014.

Missing You is a tense thriller that explores the lasting connections we have with our history. It centres around Detective Kat Donovan who has her life turned inside out when she spots her ex-fiance Josh on a dating site over a decade after his unexplained vanishing.

The search leads Kat back to investigating her own father’s murder and, as she digs deeper, past secrets emerge. Harlan, 62, has touted Missing You as his “most gripping” work yet, according to reports in the Mirror.

A newly released trailer teases the show’s kick-off on Wednesday, January 1. Alongside the clip, Netflix wrote: “Nothing burns like an old flame… and your new year’s plans just got a lot hotter @harlancoben’s MISSING YOU debuts on 1 January, only on Netflix.”

At the National Television Awards, the author shared insights about this forthcoming Netflix show with Digital Spy, saying: “I think it may be my most gripping, and the ending will not only surprise you. In fact, I recently re-watched it, I was completely fooled by the ending and I wrote it. But I think you’ll genuinely be moved. Tell me if you shed a tear at the last episode of Missing You.”

The star-studded cast of Missing You includes names such as Jessica Plummer, Richard Armitage, Ashley Walters, Rosalind Eleazar, Sir Lenny Henry, Mary Malone and Lisa Faulkner.
