According to the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office, 19 immigration detainees and three guards were on a bus that was involved in a crash with an 18-wheeler.

VICTORIA COUNTY, Texas — Several detained immigrants were injured in a crash Friday in Victoria County, according to the sheriff’s office.

It happened around 7:30 a.m. along US 77 South when, according to the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office, there were 19 immigration detainees and three guards on a bus that was involved in a crash with an 18-wheeler.

Sheriff’s office officials said nine of the detainees were taken to area hospitals for treatment. Their conditions are unknown. The other 10 detainees were taken to the VCSO and held until another bus came to pick them up.

Several agencies responded to the crash site as well as to the hospital to help. The crash is being investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
