A man is due in court after cops allegedly caught him on top of a work van attempting to break open a cash register.
The incident happened at around 11.50pm on December 23 on Sunnyside Road in Coatbridge.
Officers then stopped a man on Langloan Street matching the description with a shop till in his possession.
Meanwhile, a nearby restaurant was allegedly found to be insecure.
A 21-year-old man was arrested and charged with theft by housebreaking.
He was held in custody to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court.
A Police Scotland spokesperson added: “About 11.50pm on December 23, 2024, on Sunnyside Road Coatbridge, officers received reports of a male on top of a works van attempting to break open a box.
“Officers stopped a male on Langloan Street matching the description. He had a shop till in his possession.
“A nearby restaurant was found to be insecure. A 21-year-old male was arrested and charged with theft by housebreaking and was held in custody to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court.”
