The World No. 1 injured his hand on Christmas Day while prepping dinner, according to his manager.

DALLAS — Dallas-native Scottie Scheffler has withdrawn from the PGA Tour’s 2025 season-opening tournament, The Sentry, due to a hand injury, the tour announced Friday.

According to a statement from Scheffler’s manager, Blake Smith, the World No. 1 injured his hand while preparing dinner on Christmas Day.

“Scottie sustained a puncture wound to the palm of his right hand from a broken glass,” Smith said in the statement released by the PGA Tour. “Small glass fragments remained in the palm which required surgery.”

Smith said Scheffler was told that he should be back to 100% in about three to four weeks and that his next scheduled tournament is The American Express, which begins on Jan. 16.

The Sentry, which is set to take place Jan. 2 through Jan. 5, will be played at the Plantation Course at Kapalua in Maui, Hawaii to open up the 2025 PGA Tour season. The complete field for the tournament is being released Friday after the commitment deadline at 4 p.m. CT.
