Three dogs were tragically killed in a horror house fire on Boxing Day.

The blaze broke out at a property in Balfron, west Stirlingshire on Thursday afternoon.

Emergency services raced to the fire in the ground floor of a three-storey building in Printers Row shortly before 4pm.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) mobilised two appliances to the scene to extinguish the blaze.

A SFRS spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 3.54pm on Thursday, 26 December, to reports of a dwelling fire on Printers Row, Balfron.

“Operations Control mobilised two appliances to the scene where firefighters worked to extinguish the fire affecting the ground floor of a three-storey building.

“Three dogs within the affected building sadly died at the scene.

“No further casualty was reported.

“Crews left the scene at around 5.45pm after ensuring the area was made safe.”

Police Scotland also attended to assist the SFRS. It’s understood that the fire was not considered to be suspicious and no further police action was required.
