Coronation Street is set to welcome a new family that’s bound to stir up some drama, it has been confirmed.
The iconic ITV soap has seen numerous families come and go over the years. From the Platts to the Barlows, many have made Weatherfield their home and won over the hearts of the show’s dedicated fanbase.
Now, it’s been revealed that Coronation Street is about to introduce a fresh addition – a new family that’s predicted to “cause a lot of damage and chaos”.
In an interview with Plymouth Live, Corrie’s new boss Kate Brooks unveiled the family: “They are Mick and Lynn, they are coming to live at the back of Chesney’s [Brown].”
“They are livewires, they are ruffians and they are going to cause a lot of damage and chaos. There is a link to Chesney initially, but they are coming to stir up a lot of trouble.”, reports Plymouth Live.
The boss also mentioned that the couple have children and “develop a friendship with Chesney and Gemma”. However, she cautioned: “There are other things to unpack.”
It appears the arrival of this new family will unsettle the locals – including one resident in particular: corrupt police officer Kit Green (Jacob Roberts). Kate added: “They are also coming to open up the floodgates and unpack the past of one of our big characters, which is Kit [Green].”
Labelling the new family as “neighbours from hell”, Kate portrayed them as “coming in with oodles of drama”. However, she clarified that they are not entirely villainous.
Kate elaborated: “They have got a charm to them as well, they are not just inherently unlikeable characters, they have got a charisma they’ve got charm. But they just do and say things that you shouldn’t say or do!”
The boss further warned: “I wouldn’t get on the wrong side of them though, especially Mick. They are coming to cause some chaos on the street, and there will be a trail of devastation let’s just say.” Regarding their debut on screens, Kate disclosed it would be around February.
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
