PRINCETON, W.Va. – With New Year’s Eve quickly approaching, Princeton is gearing up for its annual Downtown Countdown event. 2024 is marking the 12th year the event has taken place.
This celebration rings in the new year with live music and performers, as well as activities and contests for people to participate in. Although the midnight ball drop will be outside, Lori McKinney, the event organizer, explained that there is more to the countdown than just what you’ll see on the street:
McKinney also said that the event brings back the energy and liveliness of Mercer Street in yesteryear:
Bringing the community together is what this event strives for. For those interested, the event is free, but there is an option of buying an all-access entertainment pass. This pass will give purchasers access to 5 venues which require a ticket to enter. Those passes cost $20 and can be purchased online or at the onsite ticket booth on New Years Eve.
The event will take place on Dec. 31, running from 8:30 p.m. to midnight. For more information on the event, you can click here.
