Ianis Hagi has been told to QUIT Rangers and move to Genoa – by ex Chelsea, Juventus and Inter Milan star Adrian Mutu.
The Ibrox playmaker has been linked in Italy with a move to the Serie A side, who are now owned by Romanian businessman Dan Sucu. And Romanian legend Mutu – who also played for Fiorentina, Verona, Parma, Livorno and Cesena in Italy – has encouraged Hagi to return to Serie A, having previously had a spell at Fiorentina as a kid.
Mutu, also previously manager of Romanian Under 21s, Rapid Bucharest and Cluj, said: “I believe Ianis Hagi would quickly establish himself at Genoa if he agreed on his personal terms and they could reach a transfer fee deal with Rangers.
“He has the qualities needed to play at that level – I think he just needs to raise his confidence levels.
“Ianis went straight to Serie A after making his debut in League 1 at Farul. Of course, he also knows Italian. He knows the country so he can adapt quickly. Ianis is a valuable player. What does he need? Confidence and continuity in development, I think that’s what Ianis needs at the moment.”
