A driver has been arrested following a horror crash on a Scots road that saw the engine of a car thrown onto the road.

Emergency services raced to a one-vehicle collision on Queensferry Terrace in Dunfermline around 5am on Sunday morning.

The driver, a 26-year-old man, was arrested, with no confirmed injuries. The passenger a 23-year-old man, was taken to Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

Cops shut down the road for just over five hours as an investigation was launched. The road reopened around 10.15am.

Pictures of the wreckage show the aftermath of the smash. A black car been seen completely wrecked on a grassy verge. The windscreen has been shattered with glass and debris strewn across the scene.

Another image shows the engine lying on the middle of the road, with oil spilled onto the carriageway.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a crash on Queensferry Terrace, Dunfermline around 5am on Sunday, 29 December, 2024.

“The 26-year-old male driver was arrested and enquiries are ongoing. The 23-year-old male passenger was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment. The road re-opened around 10.15am.”
