THOMAS COUNTY, Ga. (WALB/Gray News) – A father and his teenage son were killed in a crash.

On Monday, Magarret Brion Smith, 35, and Karter Smith, 14, died in the crash when their Tesla struck a pecan tree and caught on fire.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, they were traveling north on Hwy 35 when Smith lost control of the vehicle, left the right side of the roadway, traveled into a pecan orchard and hit a pecan tree.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
