Jonny Clayton wants free KEBABS from his pal Gerwyn Price’s chippy if he wins the World Darts Championship Welsh derby.
But The Ferret isn’t sure Sunday’s clash will attract the audience of Gavin and Stacey. The pair are huge mates having won a World Cup together. It’s a serious business on Sunday – a mouthwatering day 12 at the Ally Pally – but Clayton wants a pitta the action if he skewers his buddy. Price owns a takeaway in his hometown of Markham in South Wales and Clayton said: “If I do beat him, I want free kebabs for a week from his fish and chip shop.”
Clayton reckons Sunday’s game will be a TV highlight, but not quite as big as the fictional Christmas Day events from Barry. He laughed: “I don’t think we will get that type of viewing. But hopefully we do. I did watch it. I will tell you one thing, some of the characters were pretty close to Welsh people!
“Gerwyn is a great mate. We all know what he can do. I don’t want to play him. We are best buddies. We will still talk. We will try to enjoy the moment. One hundred per cent, it will be tough. I have totally respect for Gezzy. I never met him until I started in darts.
“He’s a good friend, a great darts player, a brilliant captain for the Wales World Cup. Both rugby boys. Both have the same banter. Both as daft as each other.”
