A woman couldn’t contain her excitement when she opened a £2 mystery bag from Morrisons.
She used the Too Good To Go app to snap up a mystery bundle from the bakery aisle at the supermarket. And it seems that luck was on her side as her gamble really paid off!
Elmi, a content creator from London, felt like the “luckiest person ever” when she opened the bag and looked inside. To her delight, she found chocolate chip cookies, toffee yum yums, raspberry and chocolate mini doughnuts, iced ring doughnuts, strawberry doughnuts, a lemon cake slice, Portuguese custard tarts, cream choux buns, blueberry muffins, fruit scones, chocolate twists and Belgian buns.
There were plenty of items to satisfy her savoury tooth, too. She couldn’t wait to sink her teeth into the ciabatta, sourdough and a cheese and onion quiche that came with the bundle.
Elmi said: “I was extremely happy with the contents and was mostly surprised with the quiche because I didn’t expect to be in the bakery bag.
“I was excited to try all the items I’d never tried before. And I’m glad all this food was given a chance thanks to Too Good To Go because I am conscious of the impact food waste has on the environment.
“I was surprised by the amount of things, as it was two full bags of bakery products. On the app, it said the bag was worth £6 but I was really lucky and got a surprise bag worth way more.”
When Elmi posted about the Too Good To Go bag on TikTok, people were equally as impressed. One drooled: “Wow I need all of that right now.” Another said: “STOP IM DOWNLOADING THE APP AGAIN.” And a third added: ”Oh I need to go then.”
Too Good To Go pairs supermarkets, restaurants and bakeries with customers who are willing to purchase surplus products at a much cheaper price.
But the big catch is you don’t know what you’re going to get in return for your money. Elmi is aware that most people don’t hit the jackpot like she did – but he plans to keep using the service in the future.
She said: “When I posted the video, some people already knew about Too Good To Go and had good experiences. While others found out about it and were excited to try the app to save up and salvage food. I would definitely purchase it again.”
