Trabzonspor have reportedly “established contact” with Rangers over a potential move for Ridvan Yilmaz.
The 23-year-old made the move to Ibrox from Besiktas back in July 2022 in a deal worth in the region of £5million – but has failed to establish himself as a regular starter for the Light Blues amid injury woes and a lack of form for the Scottish Premiership side. The left-back was handed a start in the 2-2 draw with Motherwell on Sunday – but Philippe Clement has preferred Jefte in that role throughout the campaign to this point.
Rangers could be tempted into a sale as they look to continue their rebuild with Celtic holding a 14-point advantage at the top of the table. Futbol Anadolu are claiming that the Istanbul giants are already making their move behind the scenes with the January window fast approaching as boss Senol Gunes is an admirer of the Turkey international.
Gunes worked with Yilmaz during his time at Besiktas and gave him his debut for the national side. It is claimed he “personally” asked for the deal to be pursued as he looks to replace Borna Barisic.
Elsewhere, Saint-Etienne have been linked with a move for struggling forward Cyriel Dessers. The Rangers No. 9 has lost his place as Clement’s go-to frontman in recent weeks with Hamza Igamane’s recent form.
But Etienne boss Eirik Horneland has distanced himself from any January business. He told L’Equipe: “My goal is to work with the existing team and provide collective work. I am convinced that players in the team already have great technical abilities. Building on that should allow us to work well.
“To be honest, I am not interested in the transfer window at the moment. I prefer to focus on getting to know the players, listening to them and working together.”
