Michael van Gerwen says you need proper balls to win the Worlds.
The Green Machine has shown he’s got the spuds to succeed having won the title three times.
Van Gerwen insists he should not be overlooked as he aims No.4 as he has the minerals to power on and lift the Sid Waddell Trophy.
He said: “To win this tournament, you need to have some proper balls. Everyone knows that.
“We’re still so far away, only in the last 16 now, there’s still a long way to go.
“As long as you keep standing close to yourself, I think anything is possible. Never underestimate me, Simple.”
Van Gerwen arrived at the Ally Pally on the back of a bad year, but he still puts pressure on himself to rule the world again.
He said “Of course there’s a lot more pressure, but that’s more to do with (6:05) how I’ve been performing in the last year.
“I’ve been putting pressure on my shoulders for the last 15 years, but that’s the way how I am, how I perform and how I like to play.
“Sometimes it didn’t really help in the last year, I have to admit that. But that’s the way how I play the game and how I love to play the game. I would never stop doing that. Simple as that.”
