Harlan Coben’s latest drama is soon to hit Netflix in the coming weeks, hot on the heels of the smash-hit Fool Me Once.
The author’s best-selling books have been turned into binge-worthy content by the streaming colossus, and there’s already a third instalment in the works.
Back in January this year, it was announced that Coben’s novels Missing You and Run Away would be adapted for Netflix screens. A teaser for Missing You has just dropped, with the series set to arrive on 1 January 2025.
Harlan has touted his upcoming offering as his “most gripping” small-screen project to date. Over on social media, Netflix chiefs shared a thrilling update, stating: “Nothing burns like an old flame… and your new year’s plans just got a lot hotter @harlancoben’s MISSING YOU debuts on 1 January, only on Netflix.”
First released back in March 2014, Missing You is a heart-pumping thriller that delves into the lingering bonds we have with our past. The synopsis teases: “Eleven years ago Detective Kat Donovan’s fiance Josh the love of her life disappeared and she’s never heard from him since. Now, while browsing through a dating app, she spots his face and her world is shattered anew. Josh’s unexpected reappearance motivates her to unravel her father’s murder mystery once more and unearth secrets long hidden in her history.”
Harlan offered a glimpse into his upcoming Netflix endeavour. Chatting with Digital Spy, he revealed: “I think it may be my most gripping, and the ending will not only surprise you. In fact, I recently re-watched it, I was completely fooled by the ending and I wrote it. But I think you’ll genuinely be moved. Tell me if you shed a tear at the last episode of Missing You.”
The eagerly anticipated Missing You boasts an impressive line-up featuring Jessica Plummer, Richard Armitage, Ashley Walters, Rosalind Eleazar, Sir Lenny Henry, Mary Malone, Lisa Faulkner, Victoria Asare-Archer, Nicola Shindler and Richard Fee.
In this project, Harlan took on the role of executive producer, working alongside other renowned executive producers Nicola Shindler, Richard Fee, Danny Brocklehurst, and contributing writer Victoria Asare-Archer.
Missing You is the newest addition to the growing list of successful collaborations between Harlan and Netflix, which includes hits like Stay Close, Fool Me Once, and The Stranger. Earlier this year, Fool Me Once achieved remarkable success, reigning at the top of the Netflix most-watched lists globally and securing a host of accolades.
