The home of Jennifer Lopez’s ex-boyfriend Casper Smart was raided as cops investigated an illegal marijuana growing operation, according to a report published Monday.

Smart, 37, was home when cops served a search warrant on Dec. 23 around 9 a.m. at the property in Los Angeles, TMZ reported. A woman was also home at the time.

Cops found a small to medium-sized marijuana grow in the home, sources told TMZ. However, Smart was not arrested, only cited and released at the scene. He posted Instagram stories over the weekend of himself partying in Las Vegas ahead of New Year’s Eve.

The case against Smart was passed to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office, which will determine whether to file criminal charges, TMZ reported.

Smart went from relative obscurity as a dancer and choreographer to front pages in the early 2010s when he began dating Lopez, who is almost 20 years older than him.

Lopez, now 55, was coming off her divorce from singer Marc Anthony at the time. She and Smart dated on and off for about five years before calling it quits in 2016. At the time, sources told People magazine that Lopez had caught Smart cheating on her twice and kicked him out.

Smart has largely stayed out of the spotlight since then, though paparazzi did once catch him enjoying a meal at the same restaurant as Lopez and then-boyfriend Alex Rodriguez in 2018.

Illegal marijuana growing operations are common in California and routinely hidden in plain sight in residential areas. Possession of any amount of marijuana in California can only be punished as a misdemeanor under state law.
