Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s eight-year-long divorce court battle is over – after the former Hollywood couple finally reached a settlement.
The Mirror states that TMZ reports court documents obtained by the outlet shows that the Tomb Raider star filed her paperwork on Monday.
Angelina’s lawyer James Simon, released a statement about the case coming to an end. The statement said: “More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr Pitt.
“She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family.
“This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”
Oscar winners Jolie, 49, and Pitt, 61, dubbed “Brangelina” were at one point the golden couple of Hollywood after marrying and welcoming eight children together.
They married in 2014 in an intimate ceremony in front of their children – who also helped custom design Angelina’s wedding dress. Angelina then shook the showbiz world by filing for divorce just two years later.
The move came following a private jet flight from Europe during which she claimed Pitt, who filmed World War Z in Glasgow, was abusive towards her and their children. In 2019, a judge declared them divorced and single.
But the settling of their assets and custody of their children had to be decided separately and the pair were met with numerous obstacles. A private judge hired by Pitt reached a decision soon after that, which included equal custody of their children.
But Jolie filed to have him removed from the case over an unreported conflict of interest. The appeal was upheld and Brad Pitt’s private judge was removed, meaning the couple had to start from scratch.
