Clyde gaffer Darren Young hailed a ‘gutsy performance’ as 10-man Bully Wee earned a point at Stranraer.
And the League Two club were given further good news that they have plugged a £55,000 financial black hole thanks to the generosity of supporters.
Young’s side were without 10 first team players due to injury and illness and then had to contend with Tommy Robson’s red card for hauling down Robbie Foster in the box in 71 minutes.
That led to Mark Russell cancelling out Jordan Allan’s first-half opener for Clyde, but the Bully Wee held on for a point that keeps them a point above the Blues in seventh place.
Young said: “We were 10 players down so in the circumstances it is a good result.
“In the first half we dominated and we should have been more than one goal up.
“We needed to take advantage when we were on top.
“In the second half, the sending off comes from our own free-kick, they counter-attack us and we misjudged the bounce of the ball and Tommy grabs the guy.
“It was a gutsy performance. We know we have to fight and scrap for every point.
“They were the better team in the second half so a point is probably a fair result.”
Clyde have clawed back a £55,000 deficit after support from fans.
The Bully Wee were in the red but have staved off the threat of administration after a successful crowdfunder raised the required cash.
A club statement read: “The club have been humbled at the level of support offered from fans, players, friends and partners.
“Support has come from fans of many clubs across the country and beyond, and we are truly thankful.
“The club is rich with memories and a great history and we can now look forward and make more memories for the Bully Wee faithful.
“From us to you, thank you for backing the Bully Wee.”
Clyde now start 2025 with the visit of Stirling Albion to New Douglas Park on Saturday. Kick-off is 3pm.
