The children and staff at Early Steps Nursery in Bathgate spread some Christmas cheer by donating to two worthy charities.
The Team Jak Foundation and Breast Friends & Family were both grateful for their generosity.
Over the course of the year, the nursery organised a series of fundraising events to support these causes, raising vital funds for their work in the local community.
One of the highlights of the fundraising calendar is the annual ‘Classics Against Cancer’ car show held in September at The Pyramids. This popular event saw over 300 classic cars, motorbikes, and vintage bicycles on display, along with a variety of stalls and activities for all ages.
In addition, the nursery organised sponsored events, such as an inflatable obstacle course, where both children and adults took on the challenge to raise money for charity.
Early Steps Nursery has supported both Team Jak and Breast Friends & Family for many years. The children benefit greatly from learning about the charities, their work, and even meeting some of the people they help.
Not only do the children enjoy participating in the events, but they also gain a deeper understanding of kindness, empathy, and how they can make a difference in the lives of others.
This year, the nursery presented two cheques – one for £2900 to Team Jak and the other for £2900 to Breast Friends & Family.
Carol Armstrong, owner and manager of Early Steps, shared her gratitude, saying: “Every year, we are amazed by the generosity of everyone who attends our events or takes part in fundraising. The money raised goes directly to these two incredible charities, and we get to see firsthand how the funds help families during difficult times, bringing some normality to their lives as they cope with illness and treatment.”
She continued, “The children at Early Steps also gain so much from this experience. They learn the importance of caring for each other, and how sometimes the smallest gesture can make the biggest impact.”
Looking ahead, the nursery is already planning its 2025 fundraising efforts, including the next ‘Classics Against Cancer’ event, scheduled for September 6, 2025.
