GREENVILLE, S.C. (WHNS/Gray News) – Officials are revealing more details about the death of a 17-year-old employee involving go-karts at a fun park in South Carolina.
According to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office and the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, the employee was identified as 17-year-old Kamel Seveion Sewell.
According to investigators, Sewell was killed in a collision involving a forklift and a go-kart at Frankie’s Fun Park on Friday.
Officials said Sewell was driving the go-kart when it collided with an industrial forklift, which was also being operated by a park employee.
The coroner said Sewell’s cause of death was blunt force injury of the head. His manner of death has been ruled accidental.
Frankie’s Fun Park released the following statement regarding the death:
Sewell was a junior at Fountain Inn High School.
Greenville County schools extended condolences to Sewell’s family and the entire school community.
South Carolina’s Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) is investigating the death.
