Missing You is set to land on Netflix tomorrow, and fans of Harlan Coben are eagerly anticipating the thrilling twists and turns that the renowned author has prepared for them.
This latest adaptation of his thriller comes a year after the successful Fool Me Once, featuring Michelle Keegan, which topped Netflix’s most-watched list in 2024, racking up over 100 million views globally.
Given this track record, it seems almost certain that Netflix’s newest collaboration with Coben will deliver another smash hit for the streaming giant.
During a live Q&A screening, Harlan Coben hinted that this narrative might be his “darkest yet”, cautioning fans to brace themselves for an emotional whirlwind.
“When I watched episode five, I actually cried,” he confessed, marking the first time one of his shows had ever elicited such a tearful response.
He shared that he was “emotional” at the conclusion of Fool Me Once, but the ending of Missing You moved him in a way that no previous adaptation of his work had.
The synopsis from Netflix reads: “Missing You is a limited drama series about Detective Kat Donovan (Rosalind Eleazar), whose life is rocked when her fiancé Josh (Ashley Walters), who disappeared eleven years ago, suddenly resurfaces in strange circumstances.
“While Kat investigates the case of a missing person, Josh’s reappearance forces her to dive back into the mystery surrounding her father’s (Sir Lenny Henry) murder and uncover long-buried secrets from her past.”
The description goes on to say: “Missing You sends Kat on a personal journey as she turns her policing brilliance inwards, unravelling her own life and those around her.
“Despite the big twists and shocking turns, Kat’s journey is one of emotional grounding as the viewer follows a fearless and intelligent Detective as she is forced to confront one of the most traumatic and vulnerable moments in her life.”
Eager Netflix subscribers will need to watch tomorrow to discover precisely why they may be reaching for the tissues during Coben’s newest edge-of-your-seat thriller.
Missing You is available to stream on Netflix from January 1.
