AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department (APD) is asking for the public’s help finding a man investigators believe is responsible for multiple robberies this month in Hyde Park.
Police say the robberies happened over several days: one at 9:48 p.m. on Dec. 22 and the second at 9:15 p.m. on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24. Both incidents happened along the 600 block of Maiden Lane.
APD believes the suspect robbed several women at gunpoint before running away. Police said he was chased along Maiden Lane and West 35th Street, and authorities are asking for surveillance footage from 9:45 p.m. to 10 p.m. Dec. 22 and from 9:15 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
Suspect description
The suspect is described by police as between 5 feet, 5 inches tall and 5 feet, 8 inches tall, Authorities said he is likely in his late teens or early 20s with a medium body frame.
Police said the suspect wore a black beanie and sweatshirt during the first robbery on Dec. 22. He held a fuzzy, white fanny pack that he allegedly stole, along with a black purse.
During the second robbery on Dec. 24, police say he was again dressed in a black hoodie and sweatshirt but with dark-colored pants. APD said he had a stolen red shoulder bag, based on images provided to police.
