The best-selling whiskies of 2024 have been named. Scotland is famous for many things, from its fascinating and bloody history to iconic dishes such as haggis and shortbread.

However, the country is arguably best known around the world for its whisky. Retailer The Whisky Exchange has revealed its top-selling whiskies of 2024. Whiskies from iconic distilleries across the country are featured in the roundup, including Laphroaig and Balvenie.

Among the top-selling whiskies of the year according to The Whisky Exchange is the Lagavulin 16 Year Old. Described as a “deep, dry, bold and complex cult classic”, it is among the most heavily peated of all the whiskies distilled on the island of Islay.

A 70cl bottle of Lagavulin 16 Year Old can be purchased from The Whisky Exchange at a price of £88.95. It can also be bought from The Whisky Stock for £74.95.

Meanwhile, also featured the list of the best-selling whiskies of 2024 is the Balvenie 12 Year Old DoubleWood. Known as a classic after-dinner malt, it is renowned for its complexity and richness.

The Balvenie 12 Year Old DoubleWood can be bought from The Whisky Exchange at a cost of £52.95. Elsewhere, it is also available for £55 through The Spirits Embassy.

Elsewhere, two Macallan whiskies feature on The Whisky Exchange’s list of the best-selling products of the year: Macallan 12 Year Old Double Cask and Macallan 12 Year Old Sherry Oak. The former is available for £80 from the Macallan website, while the Macallan 12 Year Old Sherry Oak can be purchased for £79.95 through The Whisky Exchange.

Two whiskies from Laphroaig are also included in the roundup: Laphroaig 10 Year Old and Laphroaig Quarter Cask. The Laphroaig 10 Year Old is a “full-bodied, smoky gem” available for £37.50 from Milroy’s, while the latter has wooden notes and can be bought for £43.95 from The Whisky Exchange.

Finally, the last whisky to named on The Whisky Exchange’s list of its top-selling products this year is Johnnie Walker Black Label 12 Year Old. Dating back to 1909, the smoky whisky can be purchased for £31.75 from The Whisky Exchange or £34 directly from Johnnie Walker.

Other whiskies from around the world named among the best-selling by The Whisky Exchange include Buffalo Trace Bourbon and Woodford Reserve Distiller’s Select from the United States. Elsewhere, Japanese whiskies Hibiki Harmony and Nikka from the Barrel are also featured on the list.
