When you’re inundated with friends and family shouting about the New Year’s resolutions they’re making, it can be challenging to sit down and think about the changes you’d like to make in 2025.
It can be difficult when people’s Instagram stories are brimming with green juices, brand-new workout routines, and self-help books they’ve chosen to make 2025 their best year yet. But you must remember that you’re on your own path – and everything you choose to do should directly benefit you, rather than doing it for the gaze of others.
Content creator Arina Negishi has taken to TikTok to share seven resolutions you could try that will “change your life”. In the caption, she wrote: “Energy flows where intention goes”.
Arina’s first suggestion for the new year is to “stop wishing you were someone else”. You should also have “weekly check-ins with family and friends” to catch up and see what they’re up to.
As well as this, she recommends “commiting to a healthier sleeping routine” as rest is so important for overall wellbeing. The NHS backs up this point, stating: “The mental health benefits of good sleep include boosting our mood, reducing stress and helping with anxiety. If you’re having trouble sleeping, knowing how to sleep better can make a big difference.”
Another thing Arina suggested was to “try something new each month” – whether that’s a new smoothie for breakfast each morning or taking up a new hobby like painting with friends. You could even write down each month what you intend to do so you can definitely stick to the plan.
As she massaged her face, she shared that you should “take 10 minutes a day for self-care.” Whether that be running yourself a nice bath, doing a consistent skincare routine, taking a short walk on your lunch break, or just meditating for 10 minutes, ensure you have time in your day that’s dedicated to you and only you.
Arina said people should “avoid looking at your phone as soon as you wake up” and should instead look to journal in the morning as an alternative. You could try daily journaling, a practice in which you write down your thoughts until you feel like you’ve got everything off your chest – then, you can go about your day as you would before.
She also highlighted the importance of “speaking kindly to yourself” because negative self-talk is not welcome anymore. Speak to yourself as you would a friend – and hopefully you’ll be oozing with confidence and self love in no time!
