Max George has revealed he is returning to the hospital due to a concerning “flicking feeling” in his chest after recent heart surgery.
The 36-year-old singer, best known for being part of The Wanted, had undergone a lengthy operation to fit a pacemaker as a solution to his 2:1 heart block and was discharged home in time for the Christmas celebrations.
However, in an Instagram video update on Monday, George mentioned that the unexpected sensation in his chest was baffling doctors. Seeking insights from fans who have experienced similar issues, he explained: “I’m in the hospital tomorrow for another check-up because I’ve been getting this ‘flicking’ feeling in the left-hand side of my chest. I’m actually getting it now.”
He remains hopeful that the issue might be a minor one, saying: “Hopefully it’s maybe a nerve touching it and it’ll go away in time, or maybe they may have to move the wires slightly.”
Admitting his lack of knowledge about pacemakers, he disclosed: “I’m all ears because all I’m doing at the moment is research because I know nothing about pacemakers. This came completely out of the blue.” He added: “Any information I can get would be much appreciated.”
The musical artist also shared on Christmas Eve that he was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his girlfriend, actress Maisie Smith, calling her visit the “best present ever”.
The couple got acquainted during their stint on Strictly Come Dancing in 2020 and made their relationship public this year.
Smith is lighting up the stage in a delightful pantomime rendition of Beauty And The Beast at Canterbury’s Marlowe Theatre, having charmed audiences on Christmas Eve with her next performance set for Boxing Day afternoon. In a separate update from his hospital bed earlier in the day, George revealed he was feeling “knackered” yet shared that his “numbers are way better”.
With a few more tests ahead concerning his lungs, which he remarked as being the least of his worries, he conveyed a sense of optimism, noting: “All good, bit battered and bruised and knackered, but…” as he offered a positive thumbs up to the camera.
