Police are appealing for information following two suspicious fires at addresses in Paisley.
The first incident happened around 3.20pm on Friday, December 27, when a fire was set within a common close at Ferguslie Walk in the town. A second blaze was then set within a common close around 7.20pm on Saturday, December 28, in Millarston Drive.
Both fires were extinguished by members of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and there were no reports of any injuries. Officers believe the incidents, which have been described as wilful fireraisings, are linked.
Police are now appealing for anyone with CCTV footage or information relating to the incidents to come forward with an investigation underway.
Detective constable Jack McElwee said: “We will continue to check any relevant CCTV footage for any additional information.
“In the meantime, I would appeal to anyone who was in these areas around the time of the incidents to consider if they noticed anything suspicious or unusual.
“I would also ask people with dash-cams and doorbell recording equipment to view their footage as it could hold images which may be significant in our inquiries.”
If anyone has any information, call police on 101 quoting incident number 2037 for the Ferguslie Walk fire and incident number 2807 for Millarston Drive blaze. Alternatively, you can get in touch with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 and give your information anonymously.
Millarston Drive was the scene of another fire earlier this year. A woman, who was deemed to have placed the lives of two people in danger after starting a blaze at a block of new flats, was jailed for two years.
Kelly Marie McDonald, 38, dragged a mattress across the front door of one of the homes before setting it alight. She then piled a bag of rubbish and a doormat on top of the blaze.
The two householders who lived inside had to flee to their balcony before firefighters arrived to rescue them. The whole episode was captured on a Ring doorbell camera.
During sentencing at the High Court in Edinburgh, Lord Harrower told McDonald that she had to go to prison for what she did.
