With the new year here and the festive season of overindulgence coming to an end, many people are looking ahead to what they hope will be a healthier month. From finding nutritious, low-calorie recipes and cutting down on the snacks to starting a new fitness regime, lots of us are considering ways to shift a bit of that holiday weight.

Many experts recommend daily walks as a great way to increase your fitness while also dropping the pounds. And more and more people are turning to smartwatches to help them meet their exercise goals.

As well as telling the time, they have built in trackers that help you manage your step count, burnt calories, and any sporting activities you do. One issue for many people thinking about buying a smartwatch is the price.

The Apple Watch and Samsung Galaxy Watch are among the best in the business – but they will make a fair dent in your wallet. So if you are looking for a smartwatch that can help you on your fitness journey while competing with the big brands, then look no further than the RUIMEN Smart Watch on Amazon.

The shopping giant describes the RUIMEN as a “healthy partner on the wrist” and is down to just £23.99, which is 20 per cent less than normal. It records daily steps, distance, and calorie consumption using “high-performance sports optical sensors”.

It also has 24-hour heart rate monitoring, as well as keeping tabs on health metrics like blood oxygen and sleep tracking. Amazon suggests connecting the watch to the app to check the body monitoring data to “better understand [your] health and adjust [your] lifestyle reasonably”.

On top of its 100+ sports modes and fitness features, the RUIMEN Smart Watch boasts a high-definition full touch screen that offers “excellent” image quality. It also uses a built in speaker that you can connect via Bluetooth to ensure don’t miss any important texts or phone calls while you are busy.

You can also check the weather forecast, control your music, set an alarm clock, and find your phone if you’ve misplaced it. And it should easily sync to your mobile as it is “compatible with most iOS 9.0 and Android 6.0 smartphones”. It meets IP68 waterproof standards for those inevitable rainy days and, thanks to its efficient design, users can expect “five to seven days” of battery life from a full charge.

The RUIMEN has racked up almost 13,000 reviews on Amazon, with an impressive 4.3 rating. Delighted customers told others not to “pay for the name” of expensive brands as this “bargain” watch was “top of the game”.

One recent five-star review read: “I do lots of walking for work and wanted to track my steps. It was really cheap and loads of people mistook it for the Apple watch. It has loads of amazing features, I really recommend.”

Another satisfied customer said: “Delighted with this watch, well made, lots of programmes and as good as the higher-priced watches.”

One mum who had embarked on a recent fitness journey heaped praise on the RUIMEN. She said: “I love this watch and it’s seasonal face screens. My kids love the games on their and I love all the exercise modes. It’s really reliable and tracking steps and is a staple for keeping me on track for my weight loss currently.”

Someone else added: “This watch is great, it has all the functions of a quality smart watch at nowhere near the cost of certain top brands. Don’t pay for the name, this watch is cheap but still top of the game. Bargain.”

However, one person didn’t believe it matched up to their previous big name watch. They wrote: “After having an Apple Watch, it doesn’t compare, but for the price it’s ok.

“The weather would not connect to my location after resetting and watching numerous tutorials, it kept defaulting to a place of the same town name in a random country. Also I found the exercise app not great. Great for the price, but I’d rather pay the extra.”

If you want an inexpensive timepiece to help you meet your 2025 fitness goals, then now is the time to grab the RUIMEN Smart Watch for just £23.99.

If you want to look elsewhere, for just under £50 you can get this Reflex Active Series 23 Pink Strap Smart Watch at Argos. Elsewhere, the Special Edition of the HUAWEI Watch Fit is priced at just £69.99 at Currys.
