A teen has been left in a “serious condition” in hospital after being found injured on the street on New Year’s Day.

The 15-year-old boy was found on Aurs Drive in Barrhead at around 10.55pm.

Police Scotland say they received a call from a concerned member of the public who said the youngster was found seriously injured on an electric bike.

Emergency services attended and he was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he is said to remain in a serious condition.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Speaking as Aurs Road remained closed yesterday, Detective Inspector Ross Jamieson said: “Officers remain at the scene while we work to establish exactly what has happened.

“I am appealing for anyone who was in the area around the time and who may have information which could assist us to get in touch. I would also appeal to anyone with dash-cam footage or private CCTV to contact us.”

Aurs Drive is closed between the junctions of Arthurlie Street and Kelvin Drive and police have asked drivers to avoid the area.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 4085 of January 1.
