It was a big moment for Ianis Hagi and Rangers as he opened the scoring on derby day against Celtic.

Philippe Clement saw his side come out of the traps against the Scottish Premiership leaders as the Romanian playmaker placed a low drive into the bottom corner and just out of Kasper Schmeichel’s reach. The goal rocked the Hoops as they got off to a rocky start at Ibrox – and Hagi lapped up his big moment inside the cauldron. The 26-year-old – who was frozen out of the picture at Rangers at the start of the campaign amid contract issues – raced towards the dugout and appeared to initially be embracing boss Clement.

However, he quickly raced out of the reach of the Belgian and gestured towards the stands as the Rangers gaffer sent a message to his players for calm. Neil McCann pointed out on Sky Sports commentary: “His celebration is to his father, I think. He is up next to us in the director’s box.”

Romanian legend Gheorghe Hagi was in attendance to watch his son stun Celtic in Govan. And Hagi Jr saved a moment during the wild scenes for the Real Madrid and Barcelona legend.
