Emmerdale fans reckon they’ve cracked the code on who might be meeting their maker in the upcoming episodes, as a series of flash forwards are set to give a sneak peek into future events.
The eerie teaser, which kicks off with the villagers excitedly counting down to the New Year at The Woolpack, suggests several grim exits on the ITV soap.
On New Year’s Eve (December 31), Emmerdale revealed five dramatic flashforward scenes, giving viewers a tantalising taste of what’s to come for the Dales in 2025.
These flashforwards are intertwined with the pub celebrations, and in the first one, we see Mackenzie Boyd dashing through the woods, while Caleb Milligan seems to be in grave danger as he lies in a hospital bed on a ventilator before an unknown character is shown flatlining, Leeds Live reports.
Cain Dingle is also pictured standing by a freshly dug grave, suggesting that a funeral has just taken place. He is seen dressed in a suit, having attended the service, and crying at the graveside.
There’s also what appears to be a murder, as a body wrapped in dark sheets is thrown into a river. The trailer wraps up with another potential death, showing a mystery character trapped under ice, their hand pressed against the solid surface above them.
Fans believe they’ve worked out two of the possible deaths. Emmerdale enthusiasts are rife with speculation after a harrowing scene depicted someone trapped beneath the ice, sparking rumours that Leyla Cavanagh might be the victim amid buzz about Roxy Shahidi’s potential exit from the soap.
One fan took to Twitter, exclaiming: “Am sure thats leyla in the water.” Another chimed in with their prediction: “I think Leyla is in that water then she dies.”

The conjecture continued as another added: “The hand at the end I think is Leyla.” And yet another fan speculated: “Leyla the one in the ice? #Emmerdale.”
The enigma intensifies as viewers puzzle over whose funeral Cain Dingle could be attending, with one viewer expressing their astonishment online: “OMG! Whose grave is Cain at? Nate’s, Mack’s or is it Caleb he has flatlined? ” Theories abound with another stating: “My time has come. Right so the grave is Nate, Moira did it and John covered it up. This is what happened.”
The air of suspicion grows thicker as another suggests: “Cain stood at a grave I’m saying Nate maybe? #Emmerdale.”
Adding to the intrigue, another person speculated: “I think Cain might be at Nate’s grave, he’s been deceased this whole time #Emmerdale.”
