EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE/Gray News) – A mother in Indiana was arrested for drunk driving on New Year’s Eve with her child in the car, police said.
Police in Evansville said officers witnessed 32-year-old Alexandria Broster run a red light shortly before 11 p.m. on Tuesday.
Officers said they also noticed her swerving before they pulled her over.
Police said a child was sleeping in the back seat of the car, which smelled like “alcohol mixed with perfume.”
Broster allegedly told officers she was leaving a New Year’s Eve party and was on the way to another one.
Officers said she admitted to drinking, but claimed it was several hours before. She also admitted that friends from the party tried to stop her from driving.
Police said Broster failed field sobriety tests. She was taken to jail, where a test showed her blood alcohol content was .13.
The child was released to a grandparent. Details about the child’s age were not given.
