Some Netflix viewers were left ‘so confused’ over a ‘random’ cameo in the streaming giant’s latest hit, Missing You.

The new series, which is an adaptation of Harlan Coben’s work, dropped on New Year’s Day and has quickly climbed to become one of Netflix’s currently most-watched offerings. It follows the success of Fool Me Once, another screen adaptation of the acclaimed author’s novels.

Missing You centres around Detective Kat Donovan who, more than ten years after her fiancé Josh vanished without a trace, stumbles upon his profile on a dating app. This shocking discovery catapults her into a whirlwind investigation that revisits her father’s murder and unearths secrets that have been buried for years.

Binge-watchers of the series have expressed their astonishment at an unexpected cameo right at the start of the first episode. Accompanied by a voiceover whispering “I dream of you”, viewers catch a fleeting glimpse of a woman’s face. After a perplexing scene featuring a horse galloping through a dim landscape, the woman appears again, this time more distinctly, reports the Mirror.

While it’s initially unclear who the character is, it’s later disclosed that she is portrayed by internet sensation GK Barry, better known as Grace Keeling. Famous for her podcast Saving Grace, Keeling recently featured as a campmate in the latest edition of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

It appears that she’s expanding her acting portfolio, although currently, she is listed on IMDB for just a single episode of Missing You.

Fans were bemused at the crossover, with one person questioning: “GK Barry girl, what are you doing here?” and another expressing surprise: “I’m so confused just started watching missing you on Netflix and why the f*** is GK Barry in it?”. Meanwhile, a third commented: “GK Barry being in Missing You on Netflix is so random.”

As followers shared their surprise at her short stint, she posted a light-hearted reply on Instagram stories, saying: “Happy New Year everyone” along with laughing emojis.

Her cameo isn’t the only one to catch viewers off guard; fans were similarly taken aback by Busted’s Matt Willis popping up in episode one.

In an interview with Cosmo UK, GK Barry shared insights into her acting venture: “They approached my manager and said, ‘We’re doing this new Netflix show, and we’d love Grace to be a little part in it.’ And I thought, ‘Well, I’m not going to say no.’ So we got on a call, and they were explaining who my character was, and it made me laugh so much because it’s very on brand.”
