Irked Nicolas Raskin has claimed that referee Don Robertson didn’t want to book Callum McGregor for their tussle before half time – after remembering the Celtic captain was on a yellow card.
The stand-in Rangers captain and McGregor were locked in a heated exchange after the half-time whistle sounded at Ibrox. The pair were seen grabbing each other by their jerseys as Hoops’ skipper McGregor smirked before the Belgian midfielder was held back by teammate Vaclav Cerny – with the man in the middle Robertson opting to dish out a yellow card to Raskin.
However, Robertson opted against issuing the same punishment to the Celtic man – who had already been booked in the first half. to flash a yellow card to the Light Blues’ man while McGregor’s role in the rammy went unpunished. Raskin admitted he was baffled by the call stating: “I just didn’t understand, because McGregor and I, we had some contact.
“The referee – I think – wanted to book us both, but then looked at him and remembered he had a yellow and then just booked me. It was a bit unfair for me – because if you book me you have to book him. We have done the same thing. It was just a bit weird.”
Asked about what he said to Robertson as he trudged off the pitch for the break, Raskin went on: “I was calm. I just explaining to the ref that it was unfair because if you want to book, you book both players. You don’t book one and not the other one. So, the ref explained to me that he didn’t just really see – but then you book no one or you book both.”
