A Midlothian man has been arrested after police with riot shields assembled in a quiet Scots street.
Residents in Station Road, Midlothian, were shocked after spotting seven police vans, two police cars as well as two ambulances outside of a residential block, reports Edinburgh Live.
Police Scotland received reports of concern for a person within a property on the street at around 12.15pm on Thursday, January 2.
No injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.
A 33-year-old has been arrested but police say enquiries are ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of concern for person within a property on Station Road in Loanhead short after 12.15pm on Thursday, 2 January, 2025.
“A 33-year-old man has been arrested at the scene and enquiries are ongoing.
“No one was injured and the incident was contained to within the property.”
One local, who saw the disturbance unfold, said the area is relatively quiet as it is a close knit community.
“Nothing like this ever happens, not on this scale,” they said. “The odd police car driving through the area after pubs closing but there’s never any issues it’s generally a really nice quiet area where everyone knows everyone so nightlife and general day to day life your bumping into people you know and having a good time.
“I just hope the gentleman involved is ok and gets the care and help he needs.”
