A young child has been left critically injured after being struck by a vehicle in a multi-storey car park, with a man in custody over a string of offences, including drug driving.
The incident, described as “tragic” by local police, happened in Tenby, Wales, on Thursday January 2 at the car park on Upper Park Road in the town centre.
Following the collision involving a grey Nissan Qashqai, a man was arrested on suspicion of several offences, and remains in police custody, reports Wales Online.
Dyfed-Powys Police are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash to come forward and assist their investigation.

A spokeswoman for the force said: “Dyfed-Powys Police is investigating a collision on the ground floor of the multi-storey car park in Tenby at around 4pm on Thursday, January 2. The collision involved a grey Nissan Qashqai and a young child. The child remains in a critical condition in hospital. Their family are being supported by specially trained officers.
“One man, aged 33, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury through dangerous driving, drink driving, and drug driving. He remains in police custody. This is a tragic incident and is a live investigation. We ask that you do not speculate the circumstances and allow our officers to carry out their enquiries. Anyone with information or dashcam footage that could help officers with their investigation is asked to report it to us, either online, by emailing [email protected], or by calling 101.”
