Despite what many of us might think of our driving prowess, there’s no harm in brushing up on our skills from time to time.
Indeed, a driving instructor believes it’s beneficial to refresh our driving knowledge now and again. Annie Winterburn opened up on TikTok and explained that a widespread road sign commonly baffles drivers – people think they understand it when they really don’t.
Surprisingly simple to comprehend, she finds it astonishing since the sign is straightforward. In a tutorial video, Annie demonstrated: “You know that it’s warning you – it’s warning you about a steep hill, but is it a steep hill up or is it a steep hill down? Well, read the number 20 and look at the zero.
“Is that zero higher up than the two or is it lower down than the two? You can see that the zero is higher up, so that number 20 is going upwards, so it’s warning you about a steep, uphill slope.
“Practice your road signs because it’s the biggest theory test topic. There are more questions about road signs than any other topic.”
These crucial signs inform drivers of an upcoming steep climb and are typically found near acute bends, after complex stretches on sinuous roads, or in hilly regions.
Since its release, Annie’s video has racked up hundreds of views and sparked an engaging conversation among viewers, with many praising her for clarifying the meaning of the road sign in such a basic way.
One relieved individual expressed their gratitude, saying: “Thank you. This is VERY helpful, as I kept getting confused with this one.”
Meanwhile, another found the guidance clear, adding: “Really well explained.”
The importance of road sign knowledge was underscored with the point that they are vital for everyone’s safety on the roads – be it drivers or pedestrians.
Not only do these signs indicate permissible actions, but they also highlight prohibitions and offer essential information about the vicinity.
