PRINCETON, W.Va. – In Princeton, Glenwood Recreational Park is inviting the public to come cut their own firewood.

Following Hurricane Helene, there are numerous felled trees at the park that need to be cleared, so they’re allowing the public to come and cut their own wood, free of charge.

The Assistant Superintendent of the park, Joshua Parks, said this opportunity will allow them to focus on other needs while the community helps to clean up the tree debris.

“After the hurricane came through, I mean county-wide, there’s trees down everywhere. There’s a lot down at Glenwood Park and we’re inviting the community to come over and collect firewood if they want,” said Parks. “If they have a chainsaw, they can come over and saw, they just have to sign a waiver absolving the county of any liability, but they’re more than welcome to come over and saw up firewood.”

A waiver must be signed prior to cutting, and the park requests that all firewood retrieval happens during normal hours of operation, which are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can reach the park by calling the front office at (304) 425-1681.
