A reveller was knocked unconscious when Boxing Day celebrations ended in violence outside a Coatbridge pub.
Connor Breslin was seen kicking a man on the head during a large scale disturbance.
Breslin, 21, of Loch Road, Chapelhall, appeared at Airdrie Sheriff Court this week.
He admitted assaulting his victim to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement outside Owen’s Bar, Main Street, Coatbridge, in the early hours of December 27, 2023.
Flora McCamley, prosecuting, said violence flared after a crowd of customers, including both men, left the pub around 1am at closing time.
She told the court: “People were waiting for taxis and Breslin became involved in an argument with another person.
“The victim tried to intervene and a large scale disturbance ensued. People were squaring up to each other and there was pushing and shoving.
“The victim ended up on the ground, Breslin having punched him three or four times.
“Breslin was taken away by a female but returned and took at kick at the man’s head.
“The pub manager watched the incident on CCTV and ran out to assist the victim, who was unconscious on the ground.
“He was bleeding heavily from a cut to his forehead.”
The victim soon came round. He was taken to Monklands Hospital where his wound was stitched.
The fiscal added: “Hospital staff carried out a full scan but there were no skull fractures and he was allowed to go home after treatment in the accident and emergency unit.”
Defence lawyer Paul Belardo said Breslin has been on bail since being charged with the assault in February last year, stressing: “There have been no issues since.”
Sheriff Derek Livingston deferred sentence until February for background reports and an electronic tagging assessment.
He told the accused: “You’re facing a serious charge. I’ll continue bail but that should not be taken as an indication of what the eventual outcome will be.”
