The woman who died following a hit-and-run in Paisley on Hogmanay has been formally identified by police as they continue to appeal for information into the incident.
Elizabeth Kennedy was killed when she was struck by a car on Barrhead Road, just east of the junction with Ladykirk Crescent around 7pm on Tuesday, December 31.
Elizabeth, aged 70, died at the scene after being struck by a white car that failed to stop.
The white vehicle is suspected to have sustained damage in the incident and police are urging people to be on the lookout for a car matching its description to assist them with their inquiries and locate the driver.
Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident and trace the vehicle involved.
Detective inspector Jan MacColl said: “Our thoughts are with Elizabeth’s family, friends and everyone affected by this tragic incident. Officers will continue to support her family as our enquiries progress.
“I would urge anyone who witnessed the crash, or who may have seen a white car in the area around that time, possibly with damage, to come forward.
“We would also ask anyone with dash-cam footage that could assist our investigation to please get in touch. Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 2566 of 31 December.”
