An Edinburgh resident was left alarmed after her doorbell camera captured a man lurking in her garden in the dark.
The incident happened at around 9.30pm on Friday, January 3, on Restalrig Road, east of the city centre. The resident, known as Lorraine, said the man tried to damage her washing line before “bursting” a bird feeder.
Other locals have reported sightings of the same man approaching other homes in the area, which is mostly residential.
Speaking to Edinburgh Live, Lorraine said: “He tried to break our clothes line and then burst the bird feeder for no apparent reason. One of my neighbours, a young lassie, said the same guy tried to get into her flat and she had to push him to the door.”

It comes after another Edinburgh local, known as Stephanie, caught a woman brazenly stealing a Christmas wreath from her front door. Doorbell footage also captured the incident in The Calders, which saw the woman checking out the wreath, before grabbing it from the top and making off with it.
Stephanie said: “It’s the pure audacity. She’s right in front of the camera. It’s sad times when someone takes it upon themselves to steal a £20 wreath from Tesco”, adding the woman had a “brass neck”.
Police Scotland have been approached for contact.
