Ange Postecoglou let his guard down live on air as the Tottenham boss was reunited with his former Celtic keeper Joe Hart.

Ex-England No. 1 Hart became one of Postecoglou’s first signings at Parkhead in the summer of 2021 and spent three trophy-laden seasons in Glasgow before hanging up his gloves last year. Hart, 37, played under some managerial greats including Jose Mourinho and Sven-Goran Eriksson during his incredible career but rates Postecoglou as one of the best.

And it’s clear there is a strong mutual respect between the pair as Postecoglou waxed lyrical about the two-time Premier League winner’s influence during his time in charge of the Hoops. Man City legend Hart and captain Callum McGregor were key figures as Postecoglou led Celts to a Double and a Treble before taking over at Spurs in 2023.

And the Aussie – known for keeping a distance between himself and his players – broke character in front of the cameras today as he warmly embraced Hart ahead of Tottenham’s clash with Newcastle United live on TNT Sports.

Clearly delighted to see Hart, Postecoglou paid tribute to the retired shotstopper, saying: “Great human being. An outstanding goalkeeper, but a great human being above all. A great person to share a dressing room with. It’s the kind of thing that you latch onto in your career. Achievements are great but it’s the people and he’s one of the best for sure.”
