Dennis Priestley reckons Luke Littler has zero chance of hitting Phil Taylor’s 16-title mark.
The Nuke believes he has the ability to get there if he drives on in his career. But Priestley, who was key with Taylor in the formation of the PDC and won the first final against The Power in 1994, can’t see it happening. The Menace explained: “I’d give Luke Littler zero chance of replicating the success Phil Taylor had in darts. No chance whatsoever. Having said that, I could see that he’d learnt so much from his previous three games. It’s frightening how good this kid could be.
“The distraction now will be enormous and he must not forget what’s got him where he is. He’s got a long way to go and only time will tell what legacy he’ll eventually leave.”
Luke wouldn’t have had the opportunity he’s got if it hadn’t been for the 14 players that split from the BDO and other forward-thinking people like Dick Allix, Tommy Cox and a few others, haha!”
Priestley, however, had no qualms with the size of the success at just 17 years of age and, speaking to The Sports Daily, added: “I do think what Luke has achieved is up there as one of the greatest sporting achievements ever.”
