It’s getting chilly out there again, with parts of Scotland starting 2025 by being blanketed in snow and ice this week.
The drop in temperatures is perfect for curling up with a blanket to keep that bit warmer. It’s even better if it is one that can be heated, reducing the need for popping on the central heating and potentially racking up the energy bill.
Which is why we were pleased to notice that M&S has reduced the cost of the “luxurious” Snuggledown Intelligent Warmth Electric Heated Throw by 30 per cent in its January sale. Usually priced at £69, it now costs just £48.30, saving £20.70.

It has been crafted with a super soft micro-fleece fabric that makes it “cosy” during the colder weather, even without the heated element. Measuring 130 x 160cm, it is ideal for wrapping up when on the couch, or as an extra layer over your bed during the cold evenings.
However, for those who are looking for a bit more warmth, there are 10 adjustable heat settings to choose from, allowing you to select the temperature perfect for you. There’s also a heat timer for your peace of mind, meaning it will shut off if you happen to fall asleep.
M&S shoppers who have snapped up the Snuggledown heated throw have showered it with praise, as they say that it has been a “brilliant” purchase that has helped them to “save a fortune on energy” during the cold snap.
One five-star review read: “Luxury without the expense. The throw is Soft, Warm, Comfortable and feels Luxurious. Do read the instructions as it is important that you follow them to get the best use from using the throw. It is not expensive to use and it can be machine washed and I can’t imagine facing a winter without it again.”
A second read: “Bought for my sister who has been feeling the cold and she’s over the moon with it – she loves how soft and cosy it feels although it’s not too heavy it’s warm even without plugging it in so she’s very happy.”
Another delighted customer said: This was a brilliant purchase! I loath electric bed blankets (too hot ) but this heated throw is a marvel! It strikes just the right temperature – perfect.
“It is saving me a fortune on energy since I don’t need the central heating on: in whichever room I am sitting I simply drape the throw over myself to keep beautifully warm. I bought mine on offer at £55 but I saw an identical throw online with another supplier at £195!”
Someone else penned: “Lovely warm blanket that’s perfect for winter. Saves putting heating on.”
One shopper, disappointed with the heat output and thickness of the blanket, wrote: “Takes a long time to heat up, and not as thick and plush as I was hoping for price.”

Over on Amazon, the Beurer HD75 Cosy Nordic Electric Blanket, reduced from £69.99 to £49.99, will also keep you warm. Meanwhile, Argos shoppers can get the Home Neutral Heated Throw for just £25, down from £33.33.
