*Spoilers for Outlander season 7b and spoilers for the Outlander book series.*
Tears and high drama are on the cards for Outlander fans as the Starz hit approaches the climax of its seventh season.
Viewers have particularly warmed to Jane Pocock, portrayed by Silvia Presente, with many cheering for a blossoming romance with William Ransom, played by Charles Vandervaart.
In a desperate bid to fend for herself and her younger sister Fanny (Florrie May Wilkinson), Jane’s circumstances force her into sleeping with men for money.
However, fans were quick to pick up on the spark between Jane and William, who doesn’t take advantage like others, reports the Irish Star.
On their official Instagram page, Outlander teased with a video snippet of Jane and William’s kiss, with the caption tauntingly questioning: “The will they, won’t they with these two is off the charts!”
Fans flooded the comments section with their thoughts on what’s in store for the couple.
“I like these two together! ” exclaimed one fan, while another concurred citing their “Great chemistry!”
A third admirer was struck by the intensity between them, commenting: “Wow, there is a big fire burning,” and another hinted at parallels to another famous Outlander pairing: “These two [fire emoji] Reminds me of Jamie and Claire…ooh that chemistry.”
One fan wants a spin-off focussed on the duo, pleading: “Spin-off with these 2 characters – can’t get enough of their storyline – love Outlander so much last season overwhelmed with emotions.”
Another viewer eagerly commented: “Definitely should continue following their story!”
Fans of Diana Gabaldon’s novels also sounded the alarm about Jane’s possible destiny on screen.
“They have chemistry. I’m note ready for what’s coming next,” a fan posted, accompanied by a crying emoji, hinting that the plot may culminate in sorrow.
“Trying not to get too attached to this relationship…” another confessed; while a third admirer shared: “These two characters (and actors) are wonderful together! Sad storyline though..”
“Books don’t end well for them,” someone else remarked, coupled with crying emojis; and another expressed grief: “The fact that they won’t be happy ever after breaks my soul.”
“I love them William and Jane together… I’m not ready for how it’s going to end,” another fan admitted, using a tearful emoji.
A viewer made an appeal for the screen adaptation to diverge from the source material, stating: “One of the few times I hope this is where the TV series deviate from the books.”
Whether the television iteration will grant Jane and William a more optimistic ending than their literary counterparts remains to be seen.
