Police are continuing their appeal to the public in an effort to trace a man who disappeared from Perth over a week ago.

The last sighting of John McNeil in the Scots city was on Friday, December 27, 2024, with his family reporting him missing two days later.

Officers from Police Scotland have now spoken to drivers and pedestrians in the area where the 52-year-old was last seen, in the hope of gaining more information on his possible whereabouts.

Numerous people were spoken to in the area of Stanley Crescent, Crieff Road and Viewfield Place between 8.30pm and 9.30pm on Friday, January 3.

John was last sighted on Stanley Crescent at around 9.10pm on December 27. Extensive enquiries have established that he was walking on the Lade Path, away from the city centre.

His family became concerned as he hadn’t been in contact with them, and reported him missing.

John is described as white, around 5ft 10 inches in height with an average build and short, grey hair. When last seen, he was wearing a work style navy jacket, navy trousers, light blue shirt, navy tie and black shoes. He may also be wearing a dark-coloured hat and carrying a rucksack.

Inspector Duncan said: “In a bid to jog memories, we had officers out in the last known place John was, around the same time a week on.

“While [we] continue our enquiries and assess any information gained, I would again urge anyone who may have seen John since Friday, 27 December, to please get in touch.”
