Lanarkshire’s climate action hub is receiving £480,000 of Scottish Government funding in the current financial year to support its environmental work.
Based in Lanark and covering both North and South Lanarkshire, the hub provides practical support such as energy efficiency advice, climate resilience training for charities and a wide range of projects across the area.
The organisation also ran Lanarkshire’s first climate action festival in September, bringing together local businesses and groups for events ranging from cooking and clothing repair workshops to tree planting and litter picks.
Lanarkshire’s climate action hub is one of 24 across Scotland which are sharing £5.5 million in Holyrood funding during 2024-2025 to “empower people to act in their neighbourhoods and [support] a range of projects including those linked to local energy generation, flood mitigation and food growing”.
Acting net zero secretary Gillian Martin said: “Tackling climate change is our collective responsibility. Communities are uniquely placed to play a key role in sharing and driving forward Scotland’s transition to low-carbon and climate-resilient living.
“It’s vital that we continue empowering people to take action in their neighbourhoods in a way which is right for them; the hubs are a way for communities to come together and engage in collective grassroots action.”
