Terrified families ran to safety as a gang of masked yobs raided an Apple store inside a busy shopping centre – and made off with a haul worth thousands of pounds.

The drama unfolded this afternoon and police are now investigating. The shocking incident was captured on camera and the footage was shared on social media.

A video posted to X, formerly Twitter, shows teenage boys donning masks and with their hoods up running into the shop in question during the raid.

They made off with a “large number” of mobile phones but police arrived on the scene quickly afterwards and arrested six suspects in connection with the crime.

The Mirror reports the incident took place at Brent Cross Shopping Centre in north London. Police said officers “quickly attended” the scene at 2.35pm and arrested the six teenage boys on suspicion of robbery.

The youths, who are all aged between 14 and 18, remained in custody for questioning on Sunday evening. Bosses at Brent Cross Shopping Centre said they were supporting police with their enquiries.

A spokesperson added: “The safety of our customers and staff is always our priority.” A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Six teenage boys have been arrested following a theft from a shop in Barnet after police arrived quickly at the scene.

“Police were called at around 14:35hrs on Sunday, 5 January to reports that a group had entered a shop in Brent Cross Shopping Centre before stealing a large number of mobile phones.

“Officers attended and quickly made arrests a short time after the incident was reported to police. The teenagers, all aged between 14-18, were all arrested on suspicion of robbery and taken to custody, where they remain for questioning.”
