Meghan Markle’s father, Thomas Markle, has spoken out suggesting his daughter should never have divorced her first husband, in what seems to be another dig at Prince Harry. The 80 year old former film lighting director weighed in on the Duchess of Sussex’s current life as she gears up for a ‘career relaunch’ with her upcoming Netflix TV show.
Estranged from Meghan since before her Royal nuptials to the now 40 year old Duke, Thomas is reportedly planning a move far across the globe with one of his sons to avoid the “awful drama” associated with being the Duchess’ dad.
In conversation with MailOnline, he expressed his fondness for Meghan’s former spouse, film producer Trevor Engelson, admitting, “I really liked Trevor. I don’t think he ever understood why she dumped him either.”

It’s emerged that Thomas still proudly keeps old family photos of Meghan from happier times, including snaps from her earlier marriage to Mr Engelson.
Thomas, who shares no communication with his most prominent daughter – his only child with second wife Doria Ragland – hasn’t spoken to Meghan since just prior to her marriage to Harry back in May 2018.
Thomas has revealed his intentions to move abroad, although he’s yet to decide on the exact location. He’s considering south-east Asia, a region he reminisces as a “place of culture and beauty” from his younger travels, reports the Mirror.
With plans not to renew his lease on his Rosarito home near the US border, Thomas is preparing to relocate with his son Tom Jr, 58, who is also Meghan’s half-brother. Mr Markle, who has never met his grandchildren Archie, five, and Lilibet, three, made a heartfelt plea on Good Morning Britain last year for Meghan to allow him to see them, saying: “This is a cruel thing to do to a grandparent… To deny the right to see their grandchild.”
Meghan cut all ties with her dad in the run-up to her royal wedding in 2018, after he was found to have set up photos with the paparazzi, something he later apologised to her for in the press.
